Ocean's Thirteen Review..

What are the odds of getting even? Danny Ocean and the gang would have only one reason to pull off their most ambitious and riskiest casino heist - to defend one of their own.. But they're going to need more than luck on their side to break The Bank.. Ruthless casino owner Willy Bank never imagined that the odds were against him when he double - crossed Danny Ocean's friend and mentor Reuben Tishkoff, putting the distraught Reuben in a hospital bed in critical condition.. But Bank miscalculated badly.. He may have taken down one of the original Ocean's eleven, but he left the others standing..

Rated: [ PG ] Mild Coarse Language, Mild Violence, Mild Sexual References

Cinema Release: 14th June 2007

Running Time: 122 minutes

Stars: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Ellen Barkin, Al Pacino

From its retro - style opening frames, Steven Soderbergh's " Ocean's Thirteen " announces itself as a playful romp.. Unlike " Ocean's Twelve " - widely criticized for feeling like one long cast in - joke - this latest installment harks back to the snappy, light - hearted heisting of the original by including the audience in on the fun..

The film begins in Vegas where we find Reuben Tishkoff ( Elliott Gould ) in hospital.. His newest endeavor - a plan to build the hottest new casino on The Strip - backfired when his business partner Willy Bank ( Impressively played by Al Pacino) double - crossed him..

But revenge is a dish best served by friends: Danny Ocean ( George Clooney ), Rusty Ryan ( Brad Pitt ), Linus Caldwell ( Matt Damon ) and the rest of the gang don't take this insult lying down.. They concoct a plan to give it to Bank where it hurts most - his pride and his pocket - by taking down his magnum opus on the night of its grand opening..

Slick, smooth and stylish, " Ocean's Thirteen " delivers all we have come to expect from the guys who " shook Sinatra's hand.." Quality laughs are dropped like breadcrumbs, but the largest teasers come from the plot itself which, rather than being predictably revealed in a tiresome exposition, is slowly let slip throughout the film..

Julia Roberts and Catherine Zeta - Jones are notably absent this time, their whereabouts idly explained in the early stages of the film.. Ellen Barkin makes up the female quotient as Bank's right - hand gal..

The sheer extent of the con forces the scriptwriters to lean heavily on ' Hollywood science ' suspending disbelief plays a critical role here, but who wants to get bogged down with tiresome explanations when there is this much fun to be had?

The relentless pace of the movie requires audiences to pay attention but the boyish charm of the end product makes it all worthwhile..

I give " Ocean's Thirteen " 4 out of 5..
