He - Man and The Masters Of The Universe Remake..

Now that its looking very likely that TRANSFORMERS will be a big hit this summer, it was pretty obvious that Hollywood would start looking at other 80's toys to make into films and next up looks to be " He - Man and the Masters of the Universe.."

He - Man was born as a Mattel action figure, and the toymaker created an animated series in hopes of selling dolls.. The series became a cult favorite, but the brand was hardly helped by its first bigscreen incarnation, the campy 1987 flop " Masters of the Universe " that starred Dolph Lundgren as the title character and Frank Langella as his nemesis Skeletor..

Warner Bros. Pictures has snapped up the rights to the Mattel toys.. The movie is currently in production, produced by Joel Silver, and written by Justin Marks, and employing visual special effects to a large degree, as was done with 300 style heavy greenscreen approach.. Interesting.. I think it's a safe bet to say they'll be completely ignoring the Dolph Lungren version! Now I'm quite sure that this version won't have Dolph Lundgren in it but that doesn't mean it's instantly going to be a great film.. Making a TRANSFORMERS movie cool should be a snap compared to making a HE - MAN movie cool.. I mean it's about a guy who runs around with his shirt off and has a big floppy haircut and rides a green cougar.. Not exactly the easiest thing in the world to pull off.. But I'm certainly curious to see them try.. By the way, I noticed I have attached a video with every post so I should put one up here too.. I found this remake of the original introduction, I thought it was really well made..

As for the cast, well it's hard to work out with all the gossip on the net.. It's hard because it was rumored John Woo was making a movie of " Masters of the Universe.." It was also rumored that The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, was taking on the role as He - Man / Prince Adam.. But seeing the rights has now been handed over to Warner Bros., who knows? As soon as something more solid comes to light I will update you.. Other rumored stars were Brad Pitt, but as a
movie source said: “ They are very keen on Brad for the role.. He’ll have to bulk up though — he’s very fit but not to He - Man proportions..” But the main contender I think would have to be 300 star Gerald Butler
