V: The Second Generation..

Well the rumors have been around for a number of years now, that a new three hour television movie will be called V: The Second Generation, would be filmed to finally close the book of the 80's classic cult series, V.. Well it may not be far off.. Kennith Johnson, the original writer and producer of the show has just made it known that the new book will be hitting our selves hopefully on the 2nd October 2007, if everything goes to plan.. He has also released that he is in development with Warner Bros.. The great thing is that the new movie will also be written and produced by Kennith Johnson, which is how it should be if they are doing a new generation series for the younger people.. But there is also talks about him doing a remake of the original 80's series.. I'm not a fan of this.. If anything just digitally remaster the original.. Though the FX utilized in the 80's were stunning for a miniseries at that point in time, I'm excited to see if they will encorporate top knotch CGI FX as well as conventional FX..

Johnson is in talks with the original stars of V, including Marc Singer, Robert Englund, Jane Badler and Faye Grant about returning to the set.. The novel picks up the epic story 20 years after the original arrival of the alien Visitors.. Anyone coming to V for the first time will be immediately swept up into the Brave New World which The Visitors have created.. By brining many benefits to humankind The Visitors have seduced the majority of earth's people into believing they have our best interests at heart.. But the brave people of The Resistance know the horrifying truth and are struggling to save humanity before it's too late.. Then, at their darkest hour, The Resistance discovers startling new Allies who have come to help.. Or have they? V - The Second Generation is a tense, fast - paced, riveting exploration of how ordinary people react to the perils of life under nightmarish wartime occupation.. And how such enormous pressures bring out the worst.. or the most Heroic.. in human nature.. I can't wait to find out.. And if you can't either, here is a fan trailer to get you excited..

It looks like Johnson's book will be a direct follow up to the first miniseries, thus dispensing with the second miniseries and show. I think this is the right move. Although you lose characters like Ham Tyler and the whole starchild plot line, it's in fact the only way to continue the story without going through the confusion of the red dust business. The first miniseries was always the strongest work, and a tv series should have followed from this, not the second miniseries which wrapped things up neatly, only to have the tv show commissioned a new reason invented for why the red dust had lost its efficacy.

Anyways, this is exciting news. Finally! I wonder if he will update it with social commentary on contemporary themes.

Aloha Cethirien.. Welcome to ' TE..' Here in Australia we only got the first mini series, followed by the series which ended at ' The Return ' which was where the Elizabeth, the Starchild, left with ' The Leader..' Of course this never has made sense as the final episode.. Then a few years ago found out there was another episode after called ' The Attack..' I purchased the videos many, many years ago and even on them ' The Return ' is the final episode.. Been meaning to get the complete series on DVD to see if ' The Attack ' is on it as I am excited as a fat kid in a lolly shop to see it..

I'm definitely hanging for this one.. By the way, I might be miss reading this, but are you saying there was a second mini series?
