Kylie Steps Back inTime..

She had a hit track with " Step Back In Time.." Now that's exactly what she’s doing..

Australian pop diva Kylie Minogue is set to join David Tennant in the TV Christmas special of the most popular British science - fiction TV drama " Doctor Who.."

This first photo of the pop princess on the set of " Doctor Who " was taken two days ago..

Kylie crouches in fear next to the Time Lord, played by David Tennant.. The singer has been cast as Astrid, a waitress on the Titanic, in the Christmas special..

The episode, Voyage Of The Damned, began filming in Cardiff this month.. The story follows on directly from the ending of the third series, when viewers saw the " Titanic " crash through the Tardis's walls..

The BBC said Minogue, 39, would play a " major lead role " alongside " Dr Who " actor David Tennant..

Minogue said: " It is an incredible thrill to be joining David and the entire " Dr Who " production for this year's Christmas special.. " Dr Who " enjoys a unique history and it is going to be very exciting to be a part of that.."

The story will follow on directly from the ending of the third series which finished on Saturday..

The episode has been written by " Doctor Who's "executive producer and head writer Russell T Davies..

He said: " We are delighted and excited to announce that Kylie Minogue will be joining the Doctor.."

He continued: " Doctor Who " Christmas specials are always a joy and we feel very confident that this will be the most ambitious and best Christmas episode yet.."

Appearing on " Doctor Who " would be another strong sign of a comeback for Kylie, obviously.. Ever since her moving post - Cancer interview, Kylie Minogue has slowly been reminding the world of who she is again, via the magic of opportunistic children's books and wearing clothes sometimes.. Minogue returned to the stage after an 18 - month break last November with a sell - out concert in Sydney after recovering from breast cancer.. Until her new album is released, larking about on the Christmas " Doctor Who " will be the best way for Kylie Minogue to remind everyone what a beloved cultural ( I'm talking more for the Aussies ) icon she is..

The fourth series of " Doctor Who " is expected to return in Spring next year..

Sticking Spike into Torchwood..

Sticking Spike into Torchwood.. Torchwood are borrowing everyone's favorite demon..

Marsters' website reports he's currently filming a part in the second series of " UK sci - fi television favorite Torchwood.." ( Well actually if you ask me, Doctor Who is the UK's favorite sci - fi series..)

James Marsters is best known for his roles as Spike on " Buffy the Vampire Slayer " and Dr. Milton Fine on " Smallville.."

Marsters is also an acclaimed musician having played in bands and solo in bars and clubs for many years and he was the lead singer for the rock band Ghost of the Robot..

So what should fans expect of Marsters, as he takes on the adult spinoff of " Doctor Who?"

Marsters tells Tomorrow's Entertainment that his role is " going to offend some, titillate others - to the point where they would need to finish themselves off afterwards.."

He also said that Brits are more liberal in their approach to sex and sexuality than Americans, but wouldn't spill the beans on what exactly we'll happen during his stay.. However, whilst he wouldn't be specific, the hint is that something " omnisexual " was going to happen in the episode; which would fit right in with the cast as each of the five main cast members have shared smooching and love affairs with members of both genders..

" Torchwood," an anagram of " Doctor Who," is a secret task force that deals with alien encounters.. John Barrowman plays ageless omnisexual time agent Captain Jack Harkness, who leads the Cardiff - based team.. The series was created by Russell T Davies, who is responsible for reviving the series " Doctor Who.."

Torchwood..

Well this preview is more for my fellow Australian's, as we are only just about to start showing the series.. You can catch it on Monday 18th June at 9:40pm on Channel TEN..

Jack Harkness, also known as Captain Jack ( An alias; his real name is, as yet, unrevealed ), is a fictional character played by John Barrowman in the long - running British science fiction television series Doctor Who and one of its spin - offs, Torchwood.. A time traveller and confidence trickster from the 51st century, he first appears in the episode " The Empty Child " and remains for the rest of the 2005 series as the third known companion of the Ninth Doctor.. He is the first openly bisexual companion..

A charming rogue from the 51st Century, who seems to flirt with everyone he meets, Jack had many adventures through time and space on his own before he begins to travel with the Doctor.. He is a former soldier of several time periods, both past and future.. With the Doctor and Rose, he helps to form a smoothly functioning TARDIS crew, and follows the Doctor's orders easily and willingly..

His departure from the Doctor's company, however, was in traumatic circumstances; this, and his unseen return to modern - day Earth, appears to change him once more.. Less gregarious and with a darker tone to his life, in his leadership role at the Torchwood Institute he has, however, begun to soften after meeting Gwen Cooper and taking her under his wing..

As mentioned earlier, Jack is bisexual, an orientation which the Doctor points out is more common in the 51st century, when mankind will deal with multiple alien species and sexuality becomes more flexible.. In " Boom Town " he flirts with the Doctor in front of Mickey, and the Doctor plays along.. He is the first companion to be anything other than openly heterosexual; Steven Moffat suggests in the Doctor Who Confidential episode " Welcome to Torchwood " that questions of sexual orientation do not even enter into Jack's mind.. Some suggest that Jack is " pansexual, " although Jack himself has only displayed attraction to people ( And, arguably, robots ) who fit into the gender binary of male / female.. John Barrowman has described Jack as bisexual, and went on to discuss bisexuality in an interview.. Jack himself refers to categories of sexual orientation as " quaint ", noticing the reactions of his teammates to Gwen's kiss with Carys in " Day One ," implying a disbelief in total monosexuality..

Jack always gives his rank as Captain, even though he is initially seen posing as an officer in the Royal Air Force, which does not use the rank ( The equivalent of army Captain is Flight Lieutenant ).. In " The Empty Child " and " The Doctor Dances " the rank insignia on his coat is of a Squadron Leader, the RAF equivalent of a Major.. In later episodes it is explained that Jack Harkness commanded a squadron - this may suggest a misunderstanding of the RAF rank system on the writers' part, since a squadron is far too junior a command for a Group Captain.. In a flashback to 1909 Lahore in " Small Worlds " he is seen wearing the three " pips " of a British Army Captain..

Well there you have it, a run down on Captain Jack and Torchwood.. I could go on and on, as there is so much information on the characters and the show, but I don't want to ruin it all for you..

Supergirl Flies into Smallville..

Look, up in the sky: It's a bird, it's a plane! No it's.. Supergirl!! This fall, Supergirl will be joining the lineup of burgeoning superheroes and villains in " Smallville.." Supergirl is the latest DC Comics character to join the series that has previously welcomed Martian Manhunter, The Green Arrow, The Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg and Brainiac.. Casting for the Supergirl role is currently underway..

When Smallville returns for its seventh season this fall it will be revealed that Clark Kent ( Tom Welling ) is not the only member of his family to survive the destruction of the planet Krypton..

Kara, a teenager when Krypton exploded, was sent to Earth by her father, Zor - El ( Kal - El’s uncle ) at the same time as baby Kal - El, to look after her younger cousin.. But there was a problem and while in suspended animation for the past 16 years, she didn’t age and now it’s Clark who must be the mentor.. We’ll find out in the season premiere that the big dam break in last season’s finale is the reason she’s finally awoken..

She has all of Clark's powers and a couple he doesn't have yet.. Why? Well we all know that girls mature more faster than boys..

Kara will help Clark get in touch with his Kryptonian roots.. With his ( Adopted ) father dead and his ( Adopted ) mother moved to Washington ( To become a U.S. Senator ), and Lana blown up, suddenly there’s some family in his life.. Kara also has a strong, rebellious streak that puts her at odds with Clark, and puts her onto Lex's ( Michael Rosenbaum ) radar.. In addition, she takes a romantic interest in Jimmy Olsen ( Aaron Ashmore ).. In other words, she will be busy.." Smallville " will need her lift as it begins its seventh season..

Kara makes her debut in the season premiere of " Smallville " and will appear in about half of this season’s episodes.. And I hate to disappoint fellow fans of the show, but the seventh season, could be it's last..

The Sarah Connor Chronicles..

If you can't get enough of The Terminator series, a television series titled The Sarah Connor Chronicles is currently in production for the FOX network.. It is confirmed that Linda Hamilton will not be reprising her role as Sarah Connor.. The part of Sarah Connor will instead be played by Lena Headey.. The pilot will be written and directed by David Nutter, and the plot will center on Sarah and her son John, played by Thomas Dekker between T2 and T3, as they try to " live under the radar " after the explosion at Cyberdyne.. At the end of Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Sarah vanquished the liquid metal Terminator sent from the future to kill her teenage son, John.. Sarah and John now find themselves alone in a very dangerous, complicated world.. Fugitives from the law, they are confronted with the reality that still more enemies from the future, and the present, could attack at any moment..

The same referenced 9th May Variety article reported that Fox is said to be very impressed with the series and it could be ordered as a full series as early as " this week " according to sources.. It's also said that Kassar and Vajna, the C2 partners has taken a passive role in production of the pilot and it's speculated by Variety that C2 is getting out of " Terminator " altogether and their stake in the series will transfer to the new owners of the franchise, Halcyon Co..

Series Trailer

" Sometimes Messiahs Can't Handle the Burden "

" These Cyborgs Are Tough to Beat "

In case you're not up to speed with the premise for The Sarah Connor Chronicles, I'll give it to you briefly.. The series picks up sometime between the second and third movies, with Sarah and her future humanity-saving son, John, on the run and in hiding from, well, any Terminators that might happen to be coming back after him..

Having the series pick up that void between the last two movies makes sense, though where the series has to be careful is how it works its way into what would eventually become the third movie.. One would hope that won't be a problem, as the series is developed by the same people who produced the Terminator movies..

A pilot script for a science fiction series is tough to fully review, as you're left to your own imagination with the effects, which can be a good thing and a bad thing.. I will say the script does a great job of selling the show to the reader, giving you a sense of excitement and awesomeness of what you're " seeing " unfold..

One question I had going into this read was whether the show would feature on something other than Terminators entering the scene again.. I can tell you that they're definitely in this series in a big way.. And much like the movies, we've got both a terminating Terminator and a protecting one, and the protector isn't Arnold; far from it.. In fact, and here's the spoiler, it's a hot, female classmate of John's!

The pilot episode of course features John, Sarah and Terminator trying to flee the big, bad Terminator out to destroy them ( All of which, as far as I can tell from the script, are nothing more than T-800 / 850 models ).. As I read the script, I started to wonder if this was it -- just another cat and mouse chase, only this time lasting 20 some odd number of episodes..

It's not until the final moments of the pilot that you realize there's going to be more to this series.. In a way that I'll leave for you to find out for yourself, Sarah, John and girl Terminator make a time jump from 1998 to 2006; naked.. It's there where the trio hopes to track down the true source of Skynet's activation and hopefully change the fate of humanity, but don't we already know what happens having seen T3?

Even with the cool twists here and there, I'm not sure about this one.. There's a possibility we've got more surprises planned for later episodes, but so far I'm not sold, and I shouldn't be, as this is just a pilot script, one that will very likely be retooled.. The show's success is going to depend a lot on what time slot it appears in and whether casual viewers are going to be OK with the Governator not being in it.. There's also clearly going to be a time commitment for people, this isn't a show you'll easily be able to jump in and out of without feeling somewhat lost..

V: The Second Generation..

Well the rumors have been around for a number of years now, that a new three hour television movie will be called V: The Second Generation, would be filmed to finally close the book of the 80's classic cult series, V.. Well it may not be far off.. Kennith Johnson, the original writer and producer of the show has just made it known that the new book will be hitting our selves hopefully on the 2nd October 2007, if everything goes to plan.. He has also released that he is in development with Warner Bros.. The great thing is that the new movie will also be written and produced by Kennith Johnson, which is how it should be if they are doing a new generation series for the younger people.. But there is also talks about him doing a remake of the original 80's series.. I'm not a fan of this.. If anything just digitally remaster the original.. Though the FX utilized in the 80's were stunning for a miniseries at that point in time, I'm excited to see if they will encorporate top knotch CGI FX as well as conventional FX..

Johnson is in talks with the original stars of V, including Marc Singer, Robert Englund, Jane Badler and Faye Grant about returning to the set.. The novel picks up the epic story 20 years after the original arrival of the alien Visitors.. Anyone coming to V for the first time will be immediately swept up into the Brave New World which The Visitors have created.. By brining many benefits to humankind The Visitors have seduced the majority of earth's people into believing they have our best interests at heart.. But the brave people of The Resistance know the horrifying truth and are struggling to save humanity before it's too late.. Then, at their darkest hour, The Resistance discovers startling new Allies who have come to help.. Or have they? V - The Second Generation is a tense, fast - paced, riveting exploration of how ordinary people react to the perils of life under nightmarish wartime occupation.. And how such enormous pressures bring out the worst.. or the most Heroic.. in human nature.. I can't wait to find out.. And if you can't either, here is a fan trailer to get you excited..
